SHAH ALAM, April 28 — The state government will be launching The Mega Selangor Food Festival at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on May 1.
Executive councillor for tourism and local government Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the festival, which will run for four days in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025 (TMS2025) will feature many exciting activities, including cooking demonstrations and a cultural night.
“Selangor has held such an event before, in 2016, but it was later cancelled. We now bring it back for everyone to enjoy the varied foods that can be found in the state.
“I think we will be able to draw a big crowd as Selangor has many races that can offer a wide range of gastronomic delights, which we will definitely feature,” he said on Saturday.
Ng said TMS2025 will also be made more exciting with the Kampung Baru Festival to be held in August, to showcase Kampung Baru to everyone.
“We are identifying two locations that will be suitable for the festival. It will be a mega event that will highlight local products and culture,” he added.
The state is expecting eight million people to visit Selangor this year, with returns of around RM11.7 billion.
In all, TMS2025 will be featuring more than 60 events that will highlight the state’s advancements in ecotourism, agriculture and the arts.
