SHAH ALAM, April 27 — Only one child rescued from GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) remains at a Social Welfare Department (JKM) care centre.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said JKM will seek a court order for permanent custody of the 16-year-old.
“There is one more (child) still in our care as there are issues with their carers. Under the childcare act, JKM will get a court order to (give custody of the child) to someone eligible.
“We will review (the case) and if no guardian claims this child, there must be a court order for permanent custody. It doesn’t have to be a family member; it could be a JKM care centre staffer,” she said.
Anfaal was met after launching the Selangor Care Economy Empowerment Seminar closing ceremony at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Building here yesterday.

Media Selangor previously reported that since early this year, most children rescued from GISBH have been returned to their guardians.
Anfaal said custody of the kids were given to their parents with a RM500 non-surety bond for the period of a year, or until their child turns 18.
On September 10 last year, police raided 20 GISBH premises in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan as the group was suspected of human trafficking.
In the raid, named Op Global, 402 children who were suspected to be victims of exploitation, neglect and abuse were rescued.
