SHAH ALAM, April 25 — Tourism Selangor recorded RM1.3 million in tourism sales and drew over 100,000 visitors at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair 2025, marking a strong start to Visit Selangor Year 2025.
The three-day event from April 18 to 20 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), Kuala Lumpur, also saw Selangor clinching the Best Booth Award under the State Tourism Organisation category.
In a statement, Tourism Selangor said it brought together 100 tourism operators from across the state, including 30 official booths and 70 booths from various industry players.
The Selangor Pavilion offered a diverse showcase of attractions, ranging from hotels and theme parks to nature and agro-tourism, cultural experiences, local cuisine, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) offerings.
"One of the main highlights (at the Selangor Pavilion) was a special live performance by popular singer Aizat Amdan, who debuted the official Visit Selangor Year 2025 theme song, 'Surprising Selangor!'.
"Visitors also enjoyed exclusive travel deals like the Selangor Super Saver and Farm Fresh Annual Pass, along with lively cultural performances by the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat)," it said in a statement today.
Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the state tourism promotion agency will continue to roll out exciting campaigns and activities throughout the year to attract more tourists.
“The encouraging response and increase in sales at this year’s Matta Fair is a great sign. We are confident and motivated to keep promoting Selangor throughout Visit Selangor Year 2025,” she said.
In conjunction with the Visit Selangor Year 2025, the state government aims to attract eight million visitors, including two million foreign tourists.
It is also targeting RM11.7 billion in total tourist spending.
