New British High Commissioner eyes closer ties with Malaysia in key areas

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — British High Commissioner to Malaysia Ajay Sharma aims to use his time here to strengthen United Kingdom (UK)-Malaysia ties, with a particular focus on trade, investment, technology, and education.

In his first official message since taking up the post, he highlighted these four sectors as key drivers of economic growth for both nations.

“Malaysia is an important partner for the United Kingdom,” Sharma said in a message shared on the UK in Malaysia - British High Commission Kuala Lumpur Facebook page.

He added that he hopes the UK and Malaysia can collaborate more closely to address global challenges such as climate change and regional security.
