MOH gets approval to raise on-call allowance for healthcare workers

PUTRAJAYA, April 24 — The Health Ministry (MOH) has received approval to increase the On-Call Duty Allowance (ETAP) for health workers and an announcement on the matter will be made later, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said the welfare of health workers has always been his priority throughout his leadership of the MOH.

“We have received approval for the increase in the active allowance or ETAP, we just have to announce the amount. I have been asked to wait for the announcement,” he said.

He told reporters after launching the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2024: Nutrition at the MOH headquarters here today.

ETAP is compensation for additional responsibilities carried out by medical officers in treating patients while on-call at hospitals beyond normal working hours.

Dr Dzulkefly said the MOH has received approval for the fee schedule, involving private clinics and hospitals.

Regarding the claim that the MOH held a large Aidilfitri event and invited famous artists, he said the appearance of Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin was through the platform Yayasan Nurjiwa.

He said the MOH did not pay Siti Nurhaliza to perform, while Datuk Jamal Abdillah was only given a small token.

Previously, several news portals criticised Dr Dzulkefly and the MOH for the supposedly lavish event.

Following this, Siti Nurhaliza said her presence at the MOH Aidilfitri event was as a guest, not as an officially invited performer.
