SHAH ALAM, April 24 — Selangor has been recognised as Guest State for the fifth time at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF), to be held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur next month.

Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said the state is the only Guest State, with several ministries invited as well.

“We first became Guest State in 2019 thanks to the Menteri Besar’s (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari) love of knowledge. Even though we don’t have many books, we have various services from many agencies.

“At the Selangor Pavilion, we will feature a new agency every day, like business loans from Yayasan Hijrah and such,” she told reporters.

The KLIBF, to be held May 23 to June 1, is set to draw 1.9 million visitors, and features over 280 exhibitors and 1,000 booths including international ones through the Asean Rights Fair.

This year’s KLIBF boasts a hybrid concept where visitors can buy books in person or online, such as through TikTok or Shopee.
