SHAH ALAM, April 20 — Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) will enforce on June 1 its ban on foreign workers at stalls and kiosks in areas under its jurisdiction.
MBDK corporate communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said the ban, which was announced by the mayor, includes permanent residents, and encompasses all food and beverage stall and kiosk renters at public markets under the MBDK.
“Only Malaysians are allowed to work as stall helpers and must be registered with the MBDK by the enforcement date.
“This is to prioritise local residents for jobs and streamlined the worker monitoring system at all stalls managed by the MBDK,” she told Media Selangor.
Norfiza reminded stall lessors and workers to abide by the new rule.
“They face legal action and the cancellation of their renters’ licence if they fail to comply,” she said.
