SHAH ALAM, April 15 — Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah today witnessed the handover of contributions from seven companies to victims of the April 1 Putra Heights gas pipeline blast.

The donations, made through the Selangor Prihatin Fund to finance officer Datuk Haniff Zainal Abidin, were presented during Invest Selangor’s Aidilfitri open house today.

The companies were the Federation of Malaysian Business Associations, Sime Darby Property Bhd, UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd, Apical Scientific Sdn Bhd, Sepang Goldcoast Sdn Bhd, NCT Group of Companies, and Hextar Oiltech Sdn Bhd.

Held at the MBSA Convention Centre here, the ceremony was also attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri amirudin Shari and state administrators, as well as thousands of guests.

Previously, the state government had welcomed donations from all parties, no matter private, corporate, or individual, to victims of the Putra Heights explosion, through the Selangor Prihatin Fund.

The fund is an added initiative and continuous effort to alleviate victims’ burdens. Donations can be made to the account CIMB 8604747531 (Bendahari Negeri Selangor) with the reference “Putra Heights”.

On April 1, the Petronas gas pipeline on Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, sprung a leak and exploded, causing flames to plume 30m into the sky. Temperatures reached 1,000℃, and the fire took nearly eight hours to extinguish.

The blast left behind a 10m-deep crater nearly 500sqm in area.
