HULU LANGAT, April 9 — Over 150 tonnes of waste have been removed from residential areas affected by the gas pipeline fire along Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, as of today.
KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said domestic and bulk waste has been collected daily — estimated at 15 to 20 tonnes — from Taman Putra Harmoni, Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, and Kampung Tengah since the third day after the incident occurred.

Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) bins were also provided to facilitate cleanup efforts and disposal of burnt debris.
“Initially, access to the area was restricted as the authorities had not yet allowed residents to return home. Many doors were left open, and we were not permitted to enter.
“Now that nearly 50 percent of the residents are allowed back, we have placed RoRo bins across the 12 lanes in Taman Putra Harmoni.
“If there are any burnt or damaged items, residents can dispose of them into the bins placed in the middle of each lane,” he said after inspecting clogged drain cleaning works in Bandar Sungai Long earlier today.
Ramli added that roads in the affected areas are also being cleaned daily using high-powered water jet machines and road sweepers to remove dust, soil, and other debris.
Asides from KDEBWM, volunteers from SERVE and Team Selangor have been deployed to Putra Heights since Friday (April 4) to assist with the cleanup operations.
The Petronas gas pipeline fire that broke out around 8.10am on April 1 sent flames more than 30 metres into the sky, with temperatures soaring to 1,000°C. It took nearly eight hours for the blaze to be fully extinguished.
The incident left 81 houses completely destroyed with structural damage exceeding 40 per cent, another 81 houses partially destroyed, 57 damaged but not burned, and 218 houses unaffected.
