PUTRAJAYA, April 9 — The KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, which were disrupted due to vandalism involving a series of cable thefts earlier today, resumed normal operations at 4pm, said operator Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL).
The latest service update was posted on ERL’s X (@KLIAekspres), Facebook (KLIA Ekspres), and Instagram (@kliaekspres) pages.
“Following the recent incidents of cable theft and signalling disruption affecting KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, ERL implemented immediate measures to ease the inconvenience for our passengers and enhance security in the affected areas,” it said in a statement today.
ERL said a free shuttle bus service was activated while the trains were down, plying the Salak Tinggi and the Putrajaya & Cyberjaya stations every 20 minutes.
The shuttle started operating at 1pm and will remain until full restoration of the rail services. Pick-up and drop-off points are clearly marked at the Salak Tinggi and the Putrajaya & Cyberjaya stations.
Meanwhile, the operator said security measures included deploying more staff to hotspots, increasing patrol frequency, and intensifying surveillance around critical infrastructure.
“ERL is working closely with the authorities to investigate the recent incidents and implement preventive measures,” it said.
ERL reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers and said it deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by these unforeseen circumstances.
“We are working around the clock to restore full train services as soon as possible. We will continue to provide regular updates on the progress of the restoration efforts through our official channels,” it said.
