SUBANG JAYA, April 8 — State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han today handed over 140 temporary-use cars to victims of the April 1 Putra Heights gas pipeline blast here today.
Ng said his office received over 190 applications from victims looking to use the cars for a month.
“Today, with Tan Chong Group, we distributed 30 more cars to the victims. Three electric vehicles were also handed over to victims with charging facilities.
“Sixty more will be distributed in batches till the end of the week. On behalf of the state government, I thank all companies that have helped the victims,” he said when met after the handover ceremony of cars from Tan Chong Group at the Putra Heights LRT station today.

Ng added that five automotive firms have come forward to offer cars of various models and makes for families whose vehicles were destroyed or damaged in the incident.
“Companies that have made contributions are Chery, Tan Chong Group, Carsome, Carro, and Eon.
“These companies have provided 200 vehicles, and after over 190 applications, there are five to six units remaining, so there is enough for all applicants,” he said.
In the disaster, a leak that sprung along the Petronas gas pipeline on Jalan Putra Harmoni caused an explosion, which resulted in a massive fire.
Flames of over 30m shot into the sky, and took nearly eight hours to put out.
The blast left a crater almost 10m deep and about 500sqm in area.
