SUBANG JAYA, April 4 — The preliminary report on the gas pipeline explosion along Jalan Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights is expected to be completed within two weeks, said Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

The report will be presented after soil stabilisation works by various agencies in the affected area are fully completed.

“Once the area is stabilised, excavation can be carried out to collect physical evidence like remnants of the pipeline and explosive materials.

“Weather conditions also play a role in the smooth running of the investigation. The explosion crater is currently filled with water due to rainfall, and drying efforts are underway.

“The Public Works Department expects two weeks for the preliminary report and another two weeks for the full report,” he said during a press conference at the Incident Control Centre in Putra Heights today.

Also present was Selangor State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.

Meanwhile, Hussein assured that the investigation would be conducted transparently, with the involvement of various other agencies.

“We are carrying out the investigation professionally and transparently, with all relevant agencies involved. The preliminary report will be announced in mid-April once everything is finalised,” he said.

“Kita jalankan siasatan secara profesional, telus dengan penglibatan semua agensi berkaitan. Laporan awal akan diumum dalam pertengahan bulan ini apabila semuanya dimuktamadkan,” katanya lagi.

The fire, involving a Petronas gas pipeline along Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, occurred at 8.10am on Tuesday (April 1) and affected 1,254 individuals from 308 families.

87 houses were completely damaged and deemed uninhabitable, while 148 houses sustained damage but remained liveable after undergoing repairs.
