Massive fire in Puchong at gas pipeline site

SHAH ALAM, April 1 — The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has confirmed a massive fire due to a gas leak at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, today, involving a 500m stretch of the pipeline.

Selangor JBPM operations deputy director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the blaze is raging near a residential area.

“The fire has spread to several houses around the site, and firefighters have evacuated seven victims including two senior citizens. The number of victims and spread of the fire has not been confirmed.

“Petronas has closed the valve of the stretch of pipeline on fire,” he said in a statement today.

Selangor JBPM operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a distress call at 8.10am, and teams from the Subang Jaya, Puchong, Shah Alam and Rawang stations were deployed.

Subang Jaya MP Wong Chen, who shared images of the incident on his Facebook page, said the Subang Jaya City Council PANTAS team will assist the JBPM.

He reminded all residents to be cautious, especially those near the fire, and prayed for the safety of those affected. He also requested patience from residents as firefighters work to extinguish the flames.
