SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graciously attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Sunnah prayer at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah, Bukit Jelutong, alongside approximately 5,000 congregants.
His Royal Highness, dressed in a light yellow Baju Melayu, was accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah. They were received by the Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
Also in attendance were the State Secretary, Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim; state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi; and state executive councillor for rural development, unity, and consumer affairs Datuk Rizam Ismail.
Sultan Sharafuddin also joined the congregation in reciting the Takbir before performing the Aidilfitri Sunnah prayer.
Following the prayer, His Royal Highness listened to the sermon delivered by the Mufti of Selangor Dato' Anhar Opir, titled 'Eidulfitri: Kembali Kepada Fitrah'.
Afterwards, the Ruler took the time to warmly engage with the congregation, shaking hands and even accepting invitations to take selfies and commemorative photographs.
The sermon emphasised that Muslims must always uphold their relationships with fellow believers, as we are fundamentally brothers and sisters who depend on one another.
It also highlighted the importance of living according to Islamic principles, as Islam is the only religion in the sight of Allah that aligns with the natural disposition of humanity.
The Aidilfitri Sunnah prayer at the mosque was a joyous occasion, attended by many Muslims from the surrounding areas since 7am, all celebrating the Syawal festivities in Selangor.
