SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has called upon all citizens to embrace the spirit of togetherness and brotherhood that has been nurtured for so long.
In a statement yesterday, he said the value of moderation should be internalised and demonstrated not only through behaviour but also through wisdom and intellect so these noble values can be inherited by future generations.
Below is Amirudin's full Hari Raya Aidilfitri message:
Salam Kita Selangor and Salam Malaysia Madani.
To all Muslims, especially in Selangor and throughout Malaysia, I, Amirudin bin Shari, the Menteri Besar of Selangor, wish you Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin, in conjunction with the blessed month of Syawal.
After experiencing the month of Ramadan, I believe this time holds profound meaning for all who have devoted themselves over the past 30 days, seeking Lailatul Qadr and engaging in various acts of charity and goodness in pursuit of Mardhatillah.
I believe that Aidilfitri brings deep significance to all Muslims who have journeyed through the holy month of Ramadan, increasing their piety and charitable deeds to attain the blessings of Lailatul Qadr and seek Mardhatillah.
If we reflect on the Quranic verse from Surah Fussilat, verse 53, Muslims are constantly reminded of the signs of Allah’s greatness. We are urged to firmly uphold the values of truth, knowledge, and moderation in facing the various challenges that may lead us astray from the righteous path and hinder us from becoming honourable members of society.
Alhamdulillah, I have witnessed the dedication of many Muslims in this state who continued to enliven the mosques during the final nights of Ramadan with a strong spirit of unity and moderation.
As we celebrate the victory of Aidilfitri, which signifies the return to a pure state, let us continue our good deeds by extending kindness to the underprivileged, orphans, and those less fortunate among us.
This spirit of moderation should be deeply ingrained and displayed not only through our actions but also through our intellect and moral character, ensuring that our cultural heritage and ethical values are passed on to our children, ultimately shaping a virtuous and civilised future generation.
Let us fully embrace the bonds of kinship and brotherhood that we have long fostered, as encouraged by our faith. This spirit of togetherness is what we must preserve in Selangor.
Although we sometimes witness incidents that certain parties may attempt to exploit to divide us, let us never forget that our strength as Malaysians lies in the unity we have built over the years.
Rather, we should look at the experiences of other nations and societies that have allowed divisions among them, leading to negative economic and national consequences.
As we are granted the opportunity to welcome the month of Syawal with our beloved families, friends, and acquaintances, we should also remember those who are no longer with us or those who may not have the opportunity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with their loved ones.
To all the people of Selangor, due to the outstanding revenue collection performance of the state government, which recorded a historic RM2.867 billion in 2024, I have announced the Kita Selangor 2024 Special Aidilfitri Incentive, granting a one-month salary bonus to 21,736 Selangor state civil servants, which was disbursed on March 25 and will also be distributed on April 15.
I believe many of you have completed your journeys home and have safely arrived at your hometowns. Cherish these precious moments with your beloved family and friends.
To those who will be travelling in the coming hours, I pray for your safety on the road and may you be protected by Allah SWT. It is better to arrive late than to risk your safety.
Once again, on behalf of the state government, I extend my heartfelt Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to all of you.
I sincerely seek forgiveness for any shortcomings and remain committed to serving you and our beloved state to the best of my ability. Taqaballallahu minna wa minkum.
Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari
Selangor Menteri Besar
