SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today wished everyone Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of festivities.
He hoped Malaysians observed the fasting month with discipline, integrity, and good health, and in solidarity with marginalised and underserved communities, especially Palestinians facing cruel violence in Gaza.
Anwar addressed the nation in his special Aidilfitri address, which was broadcast live on all local television stations tonight.
“I have had the opportunity to join the Ihya Ramadan programme at several ministries and in a few states… It was special to see for myself at the grassroots level … the people’s feedback on the effectiveness of (initiatives) implemented by the federal, state and local governments.
“We continue to drive economic growth, but I emphasise that our final strength is our success in uplifting the lives of our people.
“May this Aidilfitri be celebrated with such awareness, so we may dignify ourselves as people of higher prestige and nobler character, and perform our duties responsibly.
“I extend my wishes to everyone, and seek forgiveness from the people. God willing, I will do my best to carry out reforms for the welfare of all.”
Earlier, Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad announced Muslims in Malaysia will celebrate Aidilfitri tomorrow.
