GOMBAK, March 29 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat's Youth Wing (AMK) supports the intention of Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari to defend his position as vice-president in the party elections this May.

Its deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the youth will continue to support the Menteri Besar's leadership, as he has proven his ability to lead the state administration with excellence.

“AMK, whether at the central level or in Selangor, will continue to stand together in support of the intention, aspirations, and continue the legacy of excellent leadership, particularly in Selangor under Amirudin’s administration.

“We will move this agenda together and ensure that Amirudin’s excellence and administrative performance in Selangor will continue to be maintained and endure,” he said during a press conference after the Rewang Mantai Anak Muda programme organised by the Gombak Parliamentary Office and AMK today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Keadilan AMK also said it supports the intention of the party's state strategy director Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad and AMK chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim to contest for a position in the Central Leadership Council (CEC).

Its chief Muhammad Izuan Kasim said both leaders are closely connected with the grassroots members and can bring the voices of the lower-level members to the central level.

“These two figures are not strangers. We in the Selangor AMK fully support them, taking into account their performances, as they both come from the grassroots.

“Performance at the grassroots is a very important element. When decisions are made by the leadership level, that voice can be an important element in meetings, representing the grassroots.

“We will mobilise our efforts to ensure that these two candidates are elected to the CEC during the elections in May," he said.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin said his decision to contest for a CEC position is aimed at strengthening the reform agenda and fostering more responsive leadership, particularly in ensuring that the aspirations of the grassroots are heard.

“I believe there are some areas where we need to close the gap between leadership and the grassroots.

"After leading in Putrajaya, perhaps much of our focus was on implementing the reform agenda, but at times, we might have missed out on listening to the grassroots,” he said.
