SHAH ALAM, March 28 — Mosque personnel across the state play a crucial role in preserving and upholding the image of Islam, particularly in maintaining a positive perception within society.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said they must instil a sense of unity and possess good character to strengthen the religion holistically.

“They must understand that their duties are not limited to just one mosque or congregation; rather, their image impacts the perception of Muslims in Selangor.

“This also includes the image of Tuanku (the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj) as the head of Islam, as well as the image of the department (the Selangor Islamic Religious Department).

“Therefore, their function and responsibilities are crucial in presenting a good character and personality,” he said after handing over the Special Hari Raya Aidilfitri Incentive to mosque personnel today.

Earlier, 3,129 mosque personnel from 447 places of worship across the state received the incentive, amounting to RM1.564 million, with each individual receiving RM500.

Amirudin added that the special Aidilfitri Financial Assistance equivalent to one month’s salary had been fully disbursed to state civil servants, while the additional half-month salary will be distributed in mid-April.
