SHAH ALAM, March 27 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has collected approximately 2,543.82 kg of surplus food and beverages through the MySave Food@BazarRamadan programme.
The programme, in collaboration with the Pertubuhan Pemuda Gema Malaysia, took place from March 7 to March 20 across three Ramadan bazaars.
The bazaars were located in Pandan Indah, Bandar Baru Ampang, and Kompleks Muhibbah in Taman Nirwana.
“Surplus food and beverages were gathered by bazaar traders and then distributed to mosques, suraus, and orphanages.
“This initiative aims to encourage traders to save food and prevent wastage,” it said in a statement today.
Previously, the Shah Alam City Council and the Petaling Jaya City Council implemented a similar initiative, collecting nearly nine tonnes of surplus food and beverages from Ramadan bazaars.
