SHAH ALAM, March 25 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) is committed to improve enforcement against rule-breakers in areas under its jurisdiction.
MPKj President Nazli Md Taib said the move would ensure harmony at the local government level, in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s mandate to emphasise the important roles of civil servants, especially enforcement agencies, to perform their duties effectively and with more integrity.
“All MPKj departments and staff must act against non-compliance. We as civil servants must remain disciplined and integritous, and perform their roles responsibly,” he said in his opening speech at an MPKj meeting yesterday.
Nazli said MPKj must practise moderation in its programmes without compromising the objectives of the events, recalling Anwar’s reminder that all government agencies and departments prevent wastage in programmes during Ramadan, including fast-breaking functions.
“We must pool our efforts to pull off a programme by being smart with funds and avoiding leakages,” he said.
Previously, Anwar said the practice of organising lavish government programmes must end, as savings can be channelled to the needy.
