SHAH ALAM, March 23 — The Selangor Tahfiz al-Quran Institutions Association (Pitas) is set to open a tahfiz teacher training centre at a cost of RM5 million to produce professionals adept at handling all aspects of teaching.

Pitas chairman Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Haneefa said the triple-storey centre, built on wakaf land in Sungai Tua, Gombak, set to be completed in 2027, is set to be the nation’s first tahfiz teaching centre.

“Pitas is committed to building (this centre) as it wants to equip tahfiz teachers with skills to care for tahfiz students,” he said when met at the Selangor Huffaz Forum closing ceremony and Pitas 25th anniversary celebration at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here today.

Meanwhile, state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah, who officiated the ceremony, said the state government is fully committed to tahfiz student and school development.

“Why are we committed? Because we want to produce huffaz. They are taught about the truths in the Quran, so we want to produce a Quran-literate generation,” he said.

The ceremony was joined by around 2,000 students from hundreds of tahfiz schools in Selangor.
