GOMBAK, March 22 — The Gombak Integrated Terminal (TBG), which serves as the main transportation hub to the East Coast, is considered to be on par with the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

A Media Selangor survey at the terminal, which began operations on March 15, found that various facilities and services have been provided to cater to visitors' needs.

Government employee Rabiatul Adawiyah Ismail, 34, admitted feeling excited about the terminal’s modern design, which was built to accommodate the high number of travellers to the East Coast.

However, as a resident in the vicinity, she hopes for more bus options so that passengers no longer need to travel to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan or to Greenwood.

“I travel to the East Coast every two weeks because my husband is there. Previously, I boarded the bus from other locations, so I never expected this terminal to be as impressive as KLIA.

“At the moment, there are only two bus operators. Perhaps TBG could consider engaging third-party services to make ticket purchasing more convenient," she said.

TBG is set to become a key transport hub integrating bus services, the LRT, and major rail projects like the East Coast Rail Link in the future.

This will enhance travel convenience for passengers commuting to the capital from the East Coast states of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan.

Another passenger, Mohamad Khalili Zul Syahmie Nordin, 33, who was waiting for a bus to Kuala Terengganu, shared his admiration for the terminal’s facilities.

“It feels like being at an airport. The seating is comfortable, the waiting area is spacious, and the parking system is modern. It is very convenient for dropping off passengers and parking cars,” said the teacher.

However, the father of two suggested that the management add more ATMs and improve the ticket scanning system to prevent congestion during festive seasons.

“ATMs are necessary for emergencies, and physical ticket usage should be minimised to avoid overcrowding during Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.

Meanwhile, TBG operations director Mohd Muzammil Mohd Alias anticipates an increase in passenger numbers during the festive season, despite the terminal only beginning operations on March 15.

“There has been an increase (in passengers). So far, approximately 100 passengers are using the bus services at TBG. We hope to see even more during the festive season,” he said.

Today, TBG announced additional bus tickets to Kota Bharu for journeys between Tuesday

(March 25) and Thursday (March 27) to meet the high demand ahead of the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

The extra tickets are available for purchase at the TBG terminal counters or through the company’s official website.
