Exco advocates entrepreneurs to embrace digitalisation

SHAH ALAM, March 22 — Entrepreneurs in Selangor are encouraged to explore new technologies, including digitalisation, to further expand their businesses.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said they cannot rely solely on sales from physical shops, as most customers have shifted their purchasing patterns to online platforms.

“There have been many complaints and grievances from street vendors and bazaar traders, particularly regarding their sales not meeting expectations.

“Customers now have alternative shopping options, like online platforms, so entrepreneurs must adapt their businesses to follow the latest trends,” he told Media Selangor at a programme today.

Najwan added that the state government provides various platforms, including Hijrah Selangor, Selangor 1000 Digital, and the Selangor Platform (PLATS), as well as guidance on cashless transaction methods.

“Recently, when I visited the Puchong (Ramadan) bazaar, some PLATS-assisted traders informed me that their businesses became significantly more profitable after switching to cashless transactions, as they had previously relied solely on cash payments.

“I am confident that entrepreneurs can adapt to the evolving business landscape, especially by understanding and embracing digitalisation, which will ultimately enable them to generate better profits,” he said.
