SERDANG, March 19 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj today broke fast with 1,000 Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students and staff at the UPM Mosque Square here today.
The Ruler, accompanied by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, was greeted by UPM vice-chancellor Prof Dato’ Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah.
His Royal Highness presented RM22,500 in Aidilfitri aid to 45 members of the asnaf community, comprising UPM students and staff.

During the function, Sultan Sharafuddin accepted RM1,085,246 of UPM’s 2024 wakaf knowledge project funds from individuals, UPM corporate partners, and members of the UPM community.
The Sultan, who is also UPM chancellor, also accepted RM800,000 in zakat wakalah from Tabung Haji, RM280,000 from PLUS Bhd, RM30,000 from Bank Islam, RM15,000 from Takaful Ikhlas, and RM10,000 from the Mutiara Putrajaya Charity Corporation.
His Royal Highness then received RM121,000 in business zakat from UPM Holdings Sdn Bhd and RM10,627.23 from the UPM Bhd Cooperative.
The Ruler also broke fast and prayed with the UPM community at the mosque.
