KUALA SELANGOR, March 16 — Approximately 1,102 orphans from Kuala Selangor received RM165,300 in contributions from the Darul Ehsan Islamic Foundation (Yide) today in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah graciously presented the contributions at Masjid Taman Alam Jaya in Puncak Alam.

His Highness also witnessed the handover of RM652,470 in contributions from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) to Yide.

The contributions, provided through Mais’ Baitulmal allocation and the Mais Trust Fund, aim to assist 12,380 orphans this year.

The Raja Muda also witnessed the handover of a RM50,000 Fisabilillah Waqf cheque from the Selangor Wakaf Corporation to refurbish Mais' dialysis centre in Sungai Besar.

Meanwhile, recipient Fatini Mohd Isram, 14, who lost her father seven years ago, has pledged to save the donation in a bank instead of using it for Aidilfitri preparations.

“Our Hari Raya celebration will be modest. My mother has already bought our Raya clothes, so I will just save this money in the bank,” said the youngest of two siblings.

Another recipient, Mohd Ramali Fitri Ibrahim, 11, expressed his excitement at having the opportunity to shake hands with Tengku Amir.

“Since receiving the letter (about the donation), I have been excited. Every day, I counted down to this moment to meet the Raja Muda.

“I want to save this donation and not spend it. This is a cherished memory,” said the SK Datuk Maharajalela, Bukit Cherakah student.
