Festive cheer for Seri Setia residents as shopping vouchers await

PETALING JAYA, March 14 — The Seri Setia state constituency’s service centre has allocated RM160,000 for the distribution of Jom Shopping Aidilfitri vouchers, providing financial relief to 800 eligible recipients ahead of the festive season.

Its state assemblyman, Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, said RM200 shopping vouchers would be distributed in phases starting this Saturday to assist residents in their preparations for Aidilfitri.

“We hope this contribution will help ease the burden of recipients as they prepare for the upcoming celebrations,” he said after officiating the Cahaya Ramadan programme at Masjid Al-Islamiah in Kampung Lindungan, here, yesterday.

This year, the Selangor government has allocated 36,350 vouchers worth RM200 each in conjunction with Aidilfitri, which falls at the end of this month. The initiative is part of a RM12 million state allocation.

Fahmi, who is also the state executive councillor for Islam and innovation, said an additional RM100,000 had been distributed to 10 mosques and 20 suraus in Seri Setia to support their operations and religious programmes.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank God) this year, we are also distributing duit raya to all mosque and surau staff in Seri Setia as a token of appreciation,” he said.

At the same event, Fahmi also distributed food aid packages and duit raya to some 300 recipients in his constituency.

He said the contribution, made under the Cahaya Ramadan programme, was an initiative by Yayasan TM, with a total allocation of approximately RM69,000.

“Thank you to Yayasan TM for selecting Seri Setia and providing contributions in the form of food baskets, duit raya, and bubur lambuk to the residents here.

“We welcome such contributions from corporate companies, agencies, and non-governmental organisations. Hopefully, initiatives like this will continue in the future to ease the burden on recipients,” he said.

TM One vice-president of state business Meor Shahril Anwar, who was also present, said this was the third year the Cahaya Ramadan programme had been held to assist those in need.

“This programme also serves as a platform for TM volunteers to engage in charity work while strengthening ties with the community,” he said.
