SHAH ALAM, March 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited the Ramadan bazaar in Section 2 today.

Accompanied by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi, he arrived at 6.15pm and spent 20 minutes engaging with traders and visitors at the bazaar, which houses 42 vendors.

Anwar then proceeded to Dewan Raja Muda Musa to attend the Prime Minister’s Iftar gathering with state community leaders.

Meanwhile, otak-otak seller Baharudin Bahman, 49, said that during his visit, the Prime Minister advised Ramadan traders to conduct business with integrity, maintain fair pricing to protect consumer welfare and balance profitability.

“Datuk Seri Anwar also advised us to maintain hygiene standards as required of food vendors," he said, expressing his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Kuih vendor Nooramimi Rosdi, 40, described the visit as a testament to the Prime Minister’s concern for the well-being of grassroots communities.

"I was both nervous and excited when meeting the PM for the first time. It was truly touching to see him take the time to visit and engage with us," she said.

Anwar stopped by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) booth as well to observe the implementation of the Retail Digitisation Initiative.

Selangor KPDN director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said the ministry offered an RM20 Touch N' Go top-up to 6,000 visitors at its booth today to promote digital transactions among traders.

Previously, during the Prime Minister’s Office daily briefing, the Prime Minister's senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said Anwar intended to inspect the prices and quality of food at Ramadan bazaars.

Anwar called for stricter monitoring of prices at these bazaars to prevent exploitation.
