PETALING JAYA, March 12 — Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has allocated RM30,000 to distribute Platform Selangor (PLATS) digital coupons at six Ramadan bazaars.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said 2,000 digital coupons, each worth RM15, have been handed out to bazaar visitors to encourage cashless payments.

“Visitors can redeem their coupons at Ramadan bazaar stalls, with each coupon worth RM15,” he said during a visit to the SS6 Ramadan bazaar here yesterday.

Zahri added that a survey of 18 MBPJ Ramadan bazaars found that no traders had sold temporary permits to third parties.

“Thank you, traders, for not renting your stalls to others, and for answering the Prime Minister’s call that no one looks to make an easy profit by selling their lots to other traders. There are none in PJ so far,” he said.

He added that enforcement at MBPJ Ramadan bazaars from March 1 to 10 saw 153 notices, 131 compounds, and 14 confiscations issued to traders over various offences.

“We aren’t stopping them from doing business, but they must follow the rules,” Zahri said.

This year, the local authority provided 1,260 lots across 18 bazaars for the holy month.

MBPJ in a statement said the digital coupons can be redeemed at the Ramadan bazaars in:

— SS 6/1, Kelana Jaya (March 11)

— Seksyen 4, Kota Damansara (March 14)

— Seksyen 7, Kota Damansara (March 17)

— Jalan PJS 2/3, Taman Medan (March 19)

— Jalan PJS 1/30, Taman Sri Manja (March 24)

— Vista Business Centre, Damansara Damai (March 25)
