SHAH ALAM, March 11 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj today broke fast with 600 people at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) at Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque at UiTM Shah Alam today.
The Ruler was accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin. They were greeted by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and UiTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Shahrin Sahib@Sahibuddin.
During the ceremony, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who is also UiTM pro-chancellor, presented contributions to 26 hardcore poor students and four disabled UiTM staff.
The contributions, totalling RM6,000, were allocated through the zakat and UiTM charity funds. Each person received RM200.

After breaking fast, the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri joined in congregational prayers with UiTM folk, led by Md Idris Abdullah.
UiTM said the fast-breaking ceremony is a platform to bring together university folk and state leaders, as well as to channel aid to the needy.
Such a programme is in line with UiTM’s aspirations to produce graduates who are academically and morally balanced, and to instill good values in students.
