SHAH ALAM, March 11 — Around 20 homes in Taman Ria, Sekinchan, were damaged in a 4.30pm storm today.
State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said his office is working with several agencies to open a temporary relief centre (PPS).
“I have asked the Sabak Bernam district officer, Sabak Bernam District Council Emergency Response Team, and the Social Welfare Department to (deploy staff) to Taman Ria to help (victims).
“We will open a PPS at the Seri Sekinchan Hall to shelter victims tonight,” he said.
Ng, who is also Sekinchan assemblyman, said he was thankful no lives were lost in the second such incident.
Earlier, a video went viral on social media, showing roofs being blown off and water entering homes during the storm in Sekinchan.

On March 6, eight homes were damaged by strong winds in Parit 4, Sungai Burong. No one was hurt or killed in the 7.30am incident.
SK Parit 4’s roof, teachers’ quarters, canteen and parking garage were also damaged.
The state government channelled RM500 to each victim whose home was severely damaged.
