Prioritise safety, emergency services in Sg Buloh infrastructure planning — Ramanan

PETALING JAYA, March 9 — Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has urged local authorities and developers to prioritise safety and emergency response services when planning infrastructure in the constituency.

He stressed the importance of ensuring new and existing developments comply with safety and accessibility regulations, and added that he would engage with stakeholders, including local authorities and developers, to address these concerns.

“We will work closely with all residents’ associations in the Sungai Buloh constituency to advocate for policy changes. These changes include mandatory fire safety audits for residential and commercial developments, and ensuring emergency routes are unobstructed at all times. Every second counts, and every life matters,” he said.

Ramanan, who is also deputy entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, said this during a safety and security seminar attended by Tropicana residents, representatives from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, as well as members of the Tropicana Residents Association, at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort Club today.

Ramanan’s speech was read out by his special officer Vignesvaran Gunasagaran.

Ramanan also stressed the need for a fire station in Kota Damansara, as the nearest one serving the area is in SS2, which could delay emergency response times.

“The distance between our community and the nearest fire station significantly impacts response times, which can be the difference between life and death in an emergency. Fires spread rapidly, and every second matters. This is why we urgently need a dedicated fire station closer to our community, to ensure quicker emergency responses,” he said.

Ramanan added that the Madani Government remains committed to prioritising safety and emergency preparedness in national development initiatives.

“We are committed to ensuring fire stations, police stations, and emergency services are strategically located to serve communities efficiently,” he said.

“Additionally, we will advocate for stricter building regulations to ensure all new developments incorporate proper fire safety measures and unobstructed emergency routes,” he added.
