SUBANG JAYA, March 7 – Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has allocated 1,118 trader plots at 20 different Ramadan bazaar locations.
Its mayor Dato’ Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said seven of the bazaars are in Puchong, followed by six in Subang Jaya, five in Serdang/Seri Kembangan, and one each in Kinrara and Putra Heights.
“This year, MBSJ was selected by Agrobank to implement a cashless payment system at all Ramadan bazaars, in line with the goal to foster a cashless society.
“To promote environmental sustainability, we have also banned the use of polystyrene food containers and plastic straws at the MBSJ Ramadan bazaars,” he said.
Amirul said MBSJ is also collaborating with the non-governmental organisation, What A Waste (WaW), to launch the ‘Avoid Food Waste Ramadan Campaign’ throughout the fasting month.
“This campaign aims to reduce food waste during Ramadan by collecting and redistributing unsold but still edible food.
“The collected food will be distributed by WaW to welfare homes, the homeless, or individuals in need of food assistance,” he said.
The WaW team will be at the following locations:
- Ramadan Bazaar MBSJ USJ 4, Subang Jaya
- Ramadan Bazaar MBSJ SS 19, Subang Jaya
- Ramadan Bazaar MBSJ USJ 7, Subang Jaya
- Ramadan Bazaar MBSJ BK5, Bandar Kinrara
- Ramadan Bazaar Taman Puncak Jalil 3/10, Seri Kembangan
