SHAH ALAM, March 5 — The Platform Selangor (PLATS) Masuk Bazar programme is distributing 4,000 RM10 digital coupons across 10 Ramadan bazaars as part of the Selangor government’s push towards digitalising small businesses.

State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the RM10 coupons, totaling RM40,000 in allocations from Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, were first handed out at the Ramadan bazaar at the Shah Alam Stadium in Section 13, here yesterday.

“A total of 500 digital coupons were distributed to bazaar visitors, which they can use simply by scanning at stalls registered under PLATS.

“This initiative is part of our effort to integrate technology into business operations, in line with the state’s entrepreneur digitalisation agenda, while also improving efficiency for traders,” he said.

Najwan was speaking during a Ramadan bazaar tour programme in conjunction with Ihya’ Ramadan Selangor. Also present were MBI group chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan Mat Yusop and MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

As part of the programme, MBI distributed 1,000 boxes of dates to bazaar visitors and provided special kits to traders registered under PLATS, including aprons, caps, and promotional materials.

Najwan said the Ramadan bazaar tour, organised in collaboration with Agrobank and local councils, aims to empower small traders throughout the fasting month.

“The local councils involved in this programme include the Shah Alam City Council, Subang Jaya City Council, Selayang Municipal Council, Ampang Jaya Municipal Council, and Kajang Municipal Council,” he said.

Launched in 2020, PLATS was developed to complement the Selangor Digitalisation Agenda ecosystem, with PLATS 2.0 introduced the following year to support year-round income generation for traders.

In 2023, MBI expanded the initiative with the PLATS Masuk Pasar campaign, distributing 20,000 Rahmah Digital Coupons worth RM5 over two months across 12 selected locations in Selangor.

As of October last year, 40,000 traders across various business sectors had joined the platform, and the state government is targeting 50,000 traders by 2026
