SHAH ALAM, Mar 1 — The Selangor Red Giants (SRG) are determined to defend their championship title at the 15th season of the Mobile Legend Bang Bang (MLBB) Malaysian Professional League (MPL).
SRG manager Simon Lim said the team, which won the MLBB Mid-Season Cup, is working harder with increased training sessions.
“This championship league is set to be held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium after Aidilfitri. For now, we’ll continue training and incorporating several elements to retain the championship after winning the 13th and 14th seasons last year.
“Every day, they train for over eight hours, and to date, all teams are committed… This is the main element to defend the championship at every tournament,” he told Selangorkini.

In July last year, SRG ended Malaysia’s seven-year title drought in an international e-sports tournament after defeating the Philippines’ Falcons AP Bren Sports 4-3 in the MLBB Mid-Season Cup.
Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah said SRG’s victory in the tournament in Saudi Arabia was an extraordinary, historic achievement.
In November, SRG won the 14th season of MPL MLBB after defeating Vamos 4-2 at the EduCity Sports Complex, Johor, and brought home over RM100,000.

Meanwhile, Simon said the Selangor Future Cup e-sports championship last year uncovered new talent for the SRG team.
“This is a start, and proves the state government’s commitment to Selangor e-sports to elevate it to new heights.
“SRG is ready to help and look at new talent in this tournament to absorb them into the team as reservists in the future,” he said.
