SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has set a group-wide revenue target of RM8 billion by 2028 as part of its growth strategy.
Its group chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop said the growth will be driven by five key sectors — water and water supply, real estate and development, energy and utilities, mining and minerals, and investment.
“For water and water supply, we are targeting 45 per cent of the total revenue goal by continuing strategic collaborations with Air Selangor (Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd), Heliosel, and Cubiq Aqua,” he said at MBI’s 30th anniversary dinner in Setia Alam here last night.
The event was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, and attended by State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajudin, State Financial Officer Datuk Haniff Zainal Abidin, and Selangor government officers.
Saipolyazan said MBI has introduced THRIVE28, a comprehensive strategic transformation plan aimed at shaping a stronger, more sustainable, and more competitive future.
He said MBI is also exploring new business opportunities, particularly through high-impact projects such as the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor and the Sabak Bernam Development Area.
“In line with the Selangor government’s vision to position the state as a driver of the digital economy, the semiconductor sector will be a new business avenue for MBI,” he added.
At the event, the state agency launched its Group Strategic Blueprint, which will guide MBI’s direction until 2028 and ensure the agency continues to drive the state’s economy.
GSB outlines five core focuses — growing income and profit, optimising its business portfolio, digital transformation and automation, strengthening its administration, and developing a high-performance talent and culture.
