Over 100 PLKN 3.0 trainees complete training, modules well received — Deputy minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 — A total of 116 trainees from the first series of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 have successfully completed their 45-day training today.

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said they include 73 male and 43 female trainees, aged between 18 and 25 years.

In this series, four trainees did not complete their training and this involved two trainees due to health reasons, one received a call to undergo silat training representing the country, and another received an offer to continue studies.

He said the organisation of the PLKN 3.0 series 1/2025 programme is also successful following the training module implemented, which involves 30 per cent national aspects and 70 per cent military aspects and was well-received by the trainees.

"In addition to the national and military training modules, the trainees were also taught human skills, entrepreneurship, and technical and vocational training to prepare themselves for the future," he said during a press conference after the PLKN 3.0 Passing Out Parade at the 515th Territorial Army Regiment Camp today.

Also present at the event was the National Service Training Department's director-general Major General Datuk Ya'cob Samiran.

Adly added that the second and third in the PLKN series will be held at the same camp and at the 505th Regiment of the Territorial Army Camp in Pekan, Pahang, involving 500 trainees for each series.

"The selection of trainers is currently underway, and the selected trainers for the second series will undergo training for 45 days from May 11 to June 24, and the third series will start from September 7 to October 21," he said.

Selected trainees are required to attend the training, but those who wish to attend the training voluntarily will be given consideration.

The Defence Ministry has also identified several areas for improvement to be made in Series Two and Three and will ensure that all the necessary equipment for the trainees like uniforms will be adequately provided.

On January 12, 120 voluntary trainees from across the country reported for duty to participate in PLKN 3.0 after it was not held for seven years.

The reimplementation of the programme, conducted in stages, aims to foster a spirit of patriotism, national unity, and identity among the youth in Malaysia, as well as equip them with resilience to face life's challenges through physical and mental training experiences.
