PETALING JAYA, Feb 25 — Media Selangor celebrated two wins at the Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) Media Awards ceremony here last night.
Mohamad Fitri Hazim Hazam, 35 and Siti Rohaizah Zainal, 37, were commended for their work as journalists in two separate categories.
Mohamad Fitri won top prize in the ‘Best Article in a Malay Language publication’ category with his writeup titled ‘Kotak, plastik, botol antara barangan kitar semula tertinggi dikumpul MBPJ’.
Siti Rohaizah impressed the judges in the sports category with her piece ‘Lukisan mural Faisal Halim tanda solidariti, jadi tumpuan penyokong’.
With the win, both Mohamad Fitri and Siti Rohaizah received a cash reward of RM1,000 and a certificate, presented by the Mayor of Petaling Jaya, Mohamad Zahri Samingon.
When speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Mohamad Zahri said the awards are a way to show appreciation to members of the media who have been helping the council in promoting its efforts and agenda.
“The last time we organised such a ceremony was back in 2019. This time around, we were ready to give out eight awards,” he said.
“MBPJ hopes that our media friends will keep supporting us in highlighting our programmes, in order for us to be recognised as the best local council out there,” he added.
