SHAH ALAM, Feb 23 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has launched its tourism promotion accounts, Enjoy Kajang, in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025 (VSY25).
MPKj President Nazli Md Taib said the social media accounts centre destinations in areas of ecotourism, such as the Gombak-Hulu Langat Geopark, food and gastronomy, theme parks, and arts, culture and heritage.
“Enjoy Kajang will be available all year, and be continued next year to support Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” he said.
Previously, Nazli said that through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, the Enjoy Kajang account promotes tourist attractions in areas including ecotourism and recreation.
He added that MPKj will launch the 1001 Tastes of Kajang Satay Carnival this year, as the district is synonymous with the popular meat skewer.
“The uniqueness of Kajang satay, with its own history and flavour, lends to why it has been elevated as Selangor’s heritage dish.
“MPKj still holds the Malaysia Book of Records entry for the longest simultaneous satay grilling line — 1.2km — that was done in 2015,” he said.
Nazli added that the MPKj also cooperated with the Selangor Malay Culture and Heritage Corporation to publish material on Kajang’s history and its satay.
“Various tourism-based programmes were crafted for this year, and the MPKj will continue cooperating with the state government, Tourism Selangor, and the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry to increase tourist arrivals in the state,” he said.
Targeting eight million tourist arrivals, the state government is aiming to log RM11.7 billion in transaction value during VSY25.
In the 2025 Selangor State Budget, RM8 million was earmarked to upgrade tourist facilities and hold travel programmes to draw visitors to all nine districts.
Over 100 events and initiatives have been gazetted for VSY25 in the nine districts involving the academic, sports, food and beverage, arts and culture, and heritage tourism sectors.
