SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — Selangor will work with the Selangor State Education Department to introduce e-sports as a school activity and drive the development of the sport.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said youth nowadays enjoy e-sports, and introducing it in schools aims to produce quality talent from the state.
“We want to find new talent. The Selangor State Education Department is the first to give informal accreditation for e-sports as a school activity.
“We want e-sports in Selangor to fulfil the ecosystem and the interests of youth, and have its own economic cycle.
“That is why, to find new talent in e-sports, the state has allocated RM1 million (for efforts) including to renovate Hotel Carlton as the Selangor E-Sports Hub,” he said today.

“The programme, involving the grassroots, is an initiative to find future e-sports talent,” he said.
The Selangor Future Cup 2025, which ends tomorrow, boasts a winning prize of RM200,000. Todak Academy also offers winners scholarships in technical and vocational education and training up to the diploma level, worth RM160,000.
