SHAH ALAM, Feb 22 — The state government’s motorcycle advance payment aid, BikeCare-1000, ended last year, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V. Papparaidu.
He said rumours circulating on social media about the programme are untrue.
“There is confusion among the public about applications for BikeCare-1000 via an article published on February 21 last year, which is now being reshared.
“The article is about a 2024 programme. Many contacted my office for an explanation after (rumours) that applications for the scheme are open until March 1,” he said.
Under the programme, applicants were given advance payments to buy motorcycles.
Papparaidu explained that the project was halted last year, and the state government is considering programmes such as skills development initiatives, including on motorcycle maintenance, to benefit the people.
He said he hoped his explanation would end confusion over the unverified news on social media.
