SHAH ALAM, Feb 21 — The Selangor administration expects to create 32,000 aerospace jobs by 2030 through continuous efforts in developing the industry, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.

He said Selangor has long been a key driver of the national aerospace sector, with the state government actively engaging with industry players to secure high-impact work packages and ensure sustainable employment opportunities for Malaysians.

“To generate more job opportunities, the state government actively collaborates with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other industry players to secure high-quality employment opportunities,” he said during the question and answer session in the State Legislative Assembly today.

Ng was responding to a question posed by Lembah Jaya state representative Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman on the state government’s efforts to spur job growth in the aerospace industry.

Ng also said the state is organising career exhibitions, especially through its premier trade shows such as the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS), to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers.

He stated that at the fourth edition of the SAS last year, a total of 2,270 job opportunities were offered by various aerospace companies, with 222 positions successfully filled.

Similarly, Ng revealed that recent data from the National Aerospace Industry Corporation shows that the aerospace industry has created 29,900 jobs from 2019 to 2024.

Of this total, 14,300 workers or nearly half of the aerospace workforce in Malaysia are based in Selangor, making the state the primary contributor to the country’s aerospace workforce, said Ng.

He said that this figure is close to the target set in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which aims to create 30,000 jobs in the national aerospace industry by 2025.
