SHAH ALAM, Feb 18 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has projected that the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) development will be a significant landmark in sports development.

His Royal Highness cited the latest progress of the project, which spans 170 acres and involves the construction of a stadium and sports facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology, smart features, and eco-friendly elements.

“To date, demolition work has reached 72 per cent, progressing 18 days ahead of schedule. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by July 2028, with all three development phases scheduled for completion by December 2029.

“I urge all parties to work together effectively to ensure this project becomes a significant landmark in the development of sports, both in the state and the country,” Sultan Sharafuddin said during the opening of the First Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.

The demolition is being carried out using conventional methods without explosives to minimise disturbance to nearby residents.

The new KSSA development will feature a stadium for Selangor FC with a seating capacity between 30,000 and 40,000, along with areas for public recreational and commercial activities. It is said that 40 per cent of the area will be designated for public recreational spaces while the remaining will be sports facilities.

Some of the amenities to be featured include indoor courts, a multi-purpose hall, a hotel, a mosque, event spaces, and retail areas.

Meanwhile, on the Selangor Mobility plan, the Ruler acknowledged that the state is in the final phase of implementing the Kita Selangor Rail Line study.

“While the cost is likely to be high, I am eager to see the completion of our the Kita Selangor Rail Line, allowing more of our people living along the West Coast, such as in Kapar, Jeram, and Kuala Selangor, to reach the Klang Valley by train,” said His Royal Highness.
