SHAH ALAM, Feb 15 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, gave nearly RM100 million last year to help the state government ensure the people’s welfare.
MBI group chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop said RM72 million from the figure was spent on pro-people initiatives such as the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme.
“(MBI) subsidiaries also channelled about RM20 million to the state government and pursued corporate social responsibility programmes.
“Last year, MBI and its subsidiaries disbursed RM11 million in zakat, so over RM100 million of MBI earnings were channelled to the state to benefit the people,” he said.
