SHAH ALAM, Feb 12 — Approximately 15,882 Ramadan bazaar lots will be opened at 244 locations involving 12 local authorities this year, said the state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

This initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to assist entrepreneurs and small traders in conducting business and earning higher profits during the Ramadan fasting month, compared to regular days.

“I advise traders to comply with the regulations set by the local authorities, maintain cleanliness and safety, and as for 'rambo' traders (those without permits who set up stalls suddenly), abandon such intentions.

“The state government will not compromise with such traders, including those who sell permits to third parties.

"Monitoring will be conducted daily, and strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the regulations,” he said.

Najwan was speaking at the officiation of the 2025 Ramadan Bazaar Kits and Permits handover ceremony at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre in Section 13 today.

2,796 bazaar lots will be opened under the Kajang Municipal Council, followed by the Selayang Municipal Council (2,121), MBSA (2,058), the Klang Royal City Council (1,369), and the Subang Jaya City Council (1,367).

Similarly, the Petaling Jaya City Council (1,260), the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (936), the Sepang Municipal Council (894), the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (884), the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (861), the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (726), and the Sabak Bernam District Council (610) will also be managing bazaar lots.

Meanwhile, MBSA's acting deputy secretary of management Norhisham Mohammad said that the council has issued 2,058 permits for 37 Ramadan bazaar locations within its jurisdiction this year.

“1,302 Ramadan bazaar permits covering 26 locations will be directly managed by MBSA, while 756 Ramadan bazaar permits across 11 locations will be managed by private entities,” he said.

The permit fees for Ramadan bazaars under MBSA are RM250 for food and beverages, RM280 for fried food, RM280 for coconut and sugarcane drinks, RM280 for grilled food, and RM340 for roasted chicken and lamb.
