KOTA KINABALU, Feb 10 — A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale was reported in Kota Marudu, Sabah at 10.39am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake occurred at coordinates 6.3 degrees North and 116.8 degrees East and 27 kilometres (km) south of Kota Marudu.
It said in a statement that the earthquake, at a depth of 10km, caused tremors in Kota Marudu and the surrounding areas, adding that it would continue to monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Sabah said it had not received any calls about damage or untoward incidents so far.
