PETALING JAYA, Feb 8 — The design of libraries in Selangor is becoming more modern, with various multi-purpose spaces provided specifically to meet community needs, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
He is confident that the concept introduced by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) across all its libraries will attract more visitors.
“Libraries are often perceived as isolated from the community and only frequented by bookworms, but in Selangor, we are promoting a different narrative.
“We want to make libraries a central space where everyone can gather. We provide studios, prayer rooms, seminar rooms, pantries, and various other facilities,” Amirudin said.
He was speaking at the officiation of the Selangor Public Library @ AYG Kota Damansara Block D at the Kota Damansara PPR today.

Amirudin also congratulated PPAS for establishing this transit-friendly library and expressed hopes it will serve as an example for other agencies.
Meanwhile, PPAS director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said that over 4,000 visitors have frequented the Selangor Public Library @ AYG Kota Damansara since its opening on November 1 last year.
The establishment of this 3,000-square-foot transit-friendly library was the result of a collaboration with the non-governmental organisation Adab Youth Garage (AYG).
“The presence of this library also aligns with the Menteri Besar's call to ensure that no one in Selangor is left behind from receiving benefits.
“We hope that the collaboration between PPAS and AYG will enhance the effectiveness of library services, ultimately adding value to society — not only in education but also in economic, spiritual, and social aspects,” she said.
