SHAH ALAM, Feb 6 — The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation’s (Sidec) Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards is returning for its 10th anniversary, with a new “King & Queen of Livestream” category: a move to recognise innovation in digital commerce.
The competition, which has generated over RM367 million in gross merchandise value since its inception in 2016, is open for registration until February 17.
This year’s awards will feature a substantial prize pool of RM51,000 for the main category, with the champion taking home RM10,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive RM8,000 and RM5,000 respectively. Seven finalists will each be awarded RM2,000.
Participants will compete across four main areas — an online sales contest during a 50-day campaign, a livestream competition, advanced training sessions, and a business potential assessment.
Sidec has partnered with TikTok Shop as its strategic e-commerce partner, alongside other industry players including Shopline, Paymate, Fiuu, and Pos Malaysia to provide participants with comprehensive support and resources.
Special category awards include a dedicated Selangor Category with RM6,000 in prizes, and special recognition awards for Rising Star and Women Trailblazer winners, each carrying a RM3,000 cash prize.
The competition will incorporate AI-powered advancements, including livestream optimization, predictive insights, and retail chatbots, reflecting the evolving landscape of e-commerce.
Last year’s edition of the awards attracted 516 applications and facilitated over three million orders, demonstrating the competition’s significant impact on the local e-commerce ecosystem.
The contest will run from February 21 to April 6, culminating in a grand awards ceremony on April 26.
