SHAH ALAM, Feb 5 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is allowing traders to sell fireworks at four Ramadan bazaars in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
However, Shah Alam Mayor Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said licences are limited.
“We still allow firecrackers and fireworks to be sold for Aidilfitri, but only at four bazaars.
“We have prepared licences for five traders at each of the four bazaars,” he said when met at the Setia Alam flood mitigation project dialogue session here today.

Last month, the Ipoh City Council announced a ban on the sale of firecrackers and fireworks at all Ramadan bazaars under its jurisdiction.
Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin reportedly said traders are only allowed to sell fireworks and firecrackers 25m from Ramadan bazaars to ensure visitors’ safety.
Meanwhile, Fauzi said the Ramadan bazaar at the old Shah Alam Stadium complex will be held as usual this year, even though the construction of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) has begun.
He said the MBSA has considered every risk and safety measure so the Ramadan bazaar site doesn’t clash with the KSSA project.
