SABAK BERNAM, Feb 2 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has urged the public not to be easily swayed by extremist political narratives propagated by certain groups.

He cautioned that extremist politics is gaining traction in certain areas, fuelling hatred, stirring unrest, and deepening societal divisions.

“Among the Malays, they accuse the government of prioritising non-Malays, while among non-Malays, they play up sensitive issues related to temples and schools.

“The Selangor government helps all communities based on their needs. Selangor belongs to everyone, not just one race, religion, or group,” he said at the state-level Thaipongal celebration at Dewan Seri Sekinchan, here, yesterday,

Amirudin also addressed the state government’s decision to relocate cattle from an SD Guthrie plantation here, saying it was done in the interest of public safety.

“We are not simply asking for their removal; we are offering alternative locations to ensure the livestock are well taken care of without posing a danger to residents.

“Some farmers have sent memorandums claiming we are being cruel. If we were, we wouldn’t have offered alternative sites. For the state government, public safety and well-being remain the top priority,” he said.

In December, state executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said that all cattle farmers from the SD Guthrie plantation in Sabak Bernam had been instructed to relocate their livestock to safer areas by January 31.

He said the directive to move over 1,000 cattle was issued due to safety concerns, following fatal road accidents caused by straying livestock.

However, the state government has taken a win-win approach by proposing three new relocation sites for the farmers.

They are the Sabak Bernam Veterinary Department gazetted land in Beting Kepah, Sungai Apong, Bagan Nakhoda Omar subdistrict; a Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation land in the Sungai Panjang subdistrict, and a gazetted land under the Sabak Bernam Land Administrator in Pekan Bagan Terap.
