SHAH ALAM, Jan 30 — The Selangor government has set an ambitious target to collect RM5 billion in total revenue by 2029.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari expressed confidence that Selangor will continue to perform well economically through the collective determination and effort of the state civil servants.
“Alhamdulillah, Selangor has once again recorded the highest achievement in history with revenue totalling RM2.867 billion in 2024. This is a testament to the dedication and efficiency of the state administration in managing resources effectively for the well-being of the people.
“However, I would like to remind everyone not to be complacent with this achievement, as I have set a new revenue target of RM3 billion in the near future and RM5 billion by 2029.
“With determination and hard work from all parties, Selangor will continue to remain the most developed state in Malaysia,” he said in a social media post today.
On January 1, Amirudin had said that the state recorded a final revenue for 2024 amounting to RM2.858 billion, the highest in its history.
This figure also surpassed Selangor’s previous best collection in 2017, which stood at RM2.811 billion.
The state collected RM2.7 billion in revenue in 2023, RM2.5 billion in 2022, and RM2.3 billion in 2021.
Meanwhile, Amirudin congratulated all award recipients at the state’s 2024 Excellent Service Award and 2025 Jasamu Dikenang Award ceremonies for civil servants that took place on Tuesday.
“This is an individual achievement to be proud of, as every civil servant plays a crucial role in the development and well-being of the state and the nation.”
A total of 124 individuals received the excellent service awards, including state Financial Officer Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir, while 38 civil servants were accorded the service appreciation awards.
